Hey friends! I'm Amberly a Montana based Elopement photographer with a passion for love stories and helping photographers grow into the profession their are destined for.
Here on the blog you will find content for both eloping couples and photographers alike. Feel free to drop a comment and say hello!
My aim as your photographer is not to simply take your photos, but to create opportunities where photographic memories occur. This family chose to adventure with me back in January, and it is forever burned in my mind. Together we met up at the West Entrance to Glacier National Park, the perfect backdrop for photos and a thrilling adventure. The family and I ventured out to Apgar Village where our adventure was set to begin. The wind was chilling and the skies were full of clouds, but it was magnificent!
As you can see the lake was partially frozen, I have lived here 2 years now and have never seen the ice out so far on this lake. To say I was speechless just wouldn’t be enough. We started off by the shore, and i immediately began looking for sweet little moments to capture this beautiful family. We took time to bundle up, and it wasn’t long before Maria found her way out onto the ice. You could really see her personality come to life. I try not to give too much direction on these kinds of shoots, because i was tot capture you, the essence of you. I do this by observing.
We had an hour, and spent at least the first half just exploring. Dad walked out onto the ice with the kiddos, they danced, they played, they jumped over the large ice cracks. They made memories. I followed loosely behind them snapping photos as they happened. I was able to pick out parts of who they are and showcase that for the world. I like to think that each of them is speaking directly to you through the images. Storytelling is a craft I can’t say I have mastered, but I can say I have grown into.
We wrapped up the session by adventuring closer to the shore and eventually finding a spot to do a few posed images for mom. And the grand finale was the mini couples session at the end for mom and dad. Ah! Be still my heart, these absolutely took my breath away. Again, I didn’t go right in and start telling them what to do, or where to look, or where to put their hands. With gentle ques like “hold her closer,” “Briyith, look that way for me,” “tell her a secret” and simply “Kiss” we were able to get all these amazing images, and a few core memories!
Being able to capture raw and authentic moments elevates your images immensely in my opinion. See the gallery below. Contact me for details on how to book your session now!
